Fenix Options
Fenix Options is an educational trading community that helps students learn the ins and outs of options trading while sharing and discussing their personal trading experiences. Product Shop Inc. was asked to develop an innovative platform for the community to discuss stock movements, share tips, and build wealth together.
Concurrently, we created a white-label design system in efforts to accelerate Fenix production times and have a reusable foundation of assets for future projects.
- Create a trading-centered platform that follows the natural flow of group conversations, similar to platforms like GroupMe, while retaining searchability and organization of content.
- Build a durable design system for Present and Future Needs. The design system needed to be robust enough to meet current requirements while remaining scalable and adaptable for future projects.
Due to time constraints and the need for a strong design system, building Fenix felt like building an airplane while flying. After detailed requirement gathering and concept building sessions, low fidelity wireframes were created to show core screens, flows and functionality.
Our comprehensive design system met our immediate needs while laying the groundwork for future scalability. Engineering the system with flexibility in mind allowed us to quickly build and adapt new components without being too prescriptive.
- Component Library - Building off of Ship UI, Material Design and Concordia’s open source design systems, We adapted their basic atoms to create a comprehensive component library. Each component is designed to be modular and reusable without being too prescriptive.
- Design Tokens - To ensure consistency and ease of customization, we implemented basic design tokens for colors, typography, spacing, and other design attributes. With further development, this will allow us to adapt to specific project needs such as brand differentiation, light and dark mode, device size, operating systems and more.
The white label design system significantly increased our efficiency, reducing the time required to design and implement new features both for Fenix Options and future projects. By adhering to the design system, we ensure a consistent and high-quality user experience across all components of Fenix.
A communication platform complete with internal messaging, ticker searches, a trading education section and profile pages to review posts and previous interactions with other users.
The Fenix project was a testament to the power of a well-structured design system and effective cross-functional collaboration. By focusing on creating a durable and flexible design system, we not only delivered a successful product but also set the stage for future successes.
